This is the first of a series of tests I am running in my studio.
This particular session was done using dynamic mics only.
I recorded a funk-rock riff with a DI using a 1989 Strat Plus using the neck pickup (Texas Special), and played back the recording through a fully recapped and serviced (by me) '72 Fender Princeton Reverb with a '58 Jensen P12P. Amp controls were untouched throughout the process: Volume 4, Treble 6, Bass 3.5, no reverb or tremolo.
Mic pre used is a GAP Pre73 with Carnhill transformers and tantalum caps. No eq or compression was applied to the recordings and the ProTools session was at 44.1 kHz and 16 bits.
In order to upload the video the audio files were compressed using AAC encoder at 320 kbps.
You can download the uncompressed files here:
More sessions will follow, ribbon and condenser mics will be used as well as different amps and styles of playing.
Music used is under copyright.
