Slamdance alumni director Oren Peli discusses his debut feature, Paranormal Activity which premiered at the 2008 Slamdance Film Festival. In this interview, Peli covers his process for discovering the film in post, the importance of good acting, and advises filmmakers to be resourceful.
Paranormal Activity was made for a mere $11,000 and shot entirely in the auteur’s suburban home. The film spawned a franchise that has pulled in approximately $577 million worldwide at the box office alone. According to Paramount, Paranormal Activity is probably the most profitable film ever.
