Dr. Eliska Rejmankova (University of California, Davis) talks about using water hyacinths as green filters to cut down on the high level of nutrients entering Guatemala's Lake Atitlan.
Dr. Rejmankova is starting to work with individuals and non-governmental groups around the lake as part of a pilot program.

As she says, this is not THE solution to the contamination of the lake, but it's a step that individuals can take on their own.
