The work "Study of a Young Man" is minimalist in it's form. The physical contact between the "men" and the "boy" is the most important element of this work. In the center of the composition we see a young man of introverted character, in this situation he is passive. As the men enter the frame, they simultaneously enter into a relationship with the boy. The situation seems to be oppressive, as they approach the boy en mass. Nonetheless, it becomes apparent that each man touches the boy in a different way, in turn he reacts to each gesture individually. All of the characters in this film are men, their silhouettes are only identifiable in relation to each other. One can interpret the work in several ways; within the context of what is masculine, what is boyish, in religious categories, in terms of liminal experiences, or the relationships between men that are deeply rooted within our culture.
