Wood + Wires is a series documenting NW independent audio and music manufacturers. This edition profiles the work of Bottlehead Corp and it's "President for Life" Dan Schmalle. Dan, a self professed "destroyer of hobbies", turned a love of antique radios into a thriving business designing and selling vacuum tube audio kits in the vain of classic kit manufacturers such as Heathkit and Eico. Everything sounds better when you build it yourself.

Disclaimer : The kit featured here is the Reduction Phono Pre-amp. Although not shown in this video, I had help from Bottlehead Tech Paul Birkeland with this build. I put the entire kit together myself, when completed it did not function perfectly due to mistakes I had made. Shooting video while building the project proved problematic in the end, I made mistakes. In the interest of time, Paul stepped in to help me find and fix these mistakes. I am very much a beginner, I have never built a kit like this before and had very minimal experience soldering over 20 years ago. The finished amp sounds fantastic.
