Our series—Speak Justice: Stories from Muslim, Arab, and South Asian Organizers—profiles a new wave of courageous activists and civil rights pioneers from Muslim, Arab, and South Asian communities who are organizing in the face of institutional and systemic challenges, galvanizing new movements, activating communities to greater levels of civic engagement and impact, and sparking new partnerships across issues.
Our third video features Afaf.Nasher, the Executive Director of the New York Chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY). CAIR-NY safeguards civil liberties and empowers American Muslims through legal advocacy, media relations, civic engagement, and grassroots mobilization. The organization combats Islamophobia and protects New Yorkers who have experienced discrimination, harassment, and hate crimes.
