This was not in Kona as we know. In Kona last year Ronnie was unlucky, he quit. One day before the race we got him on his way to the bike check-in. Watching this video may evoke sweet-sour memories. Ronnie, if he watches the video, probably remembers how he tried to talk himself into a state of perfect well-being and self-confidence.
For myself looking at Ronnie now, I feel that there were already seeds of doubt in him. He tried hard to push these blurry thoughts away. But if one knows that he quit the race 2011, then you also know that he did not really succeed in doing so. This race does not tolerate doubts. It is merciless, and this is maybe the huge difference between IRONMAN Hawaii and all the other IRONMAN races around the globe.
