This trip was nearly a total loss. I managed a max distance of just over 10 miles, (53,263ft) but didn't have as much tailwind, or lift, on the return trip as I was expecting. It was the absolute limit for this plane.
At one point on the return flight, the plane dipped into negative territory, dropping below launch height. I was in a bind, as I couldn't rely on autopilot because the motor would have totally discharged the battery. As it was, the 3s lipo was down to 9.6v on landing. I just managed to squeeze the last bit out of the poor lift and depleted lipo pak.
Although it looks peaceful, it was a white knuckle trip on the way back. The DVD burner crapped out again and wouldnt restart after changing disks, until the picture quality improved a bit, so I missed the turnaround at max distance.
