From economics and football to surf photography, the ‘master of light’ Ted Grambeau found his calling after an injury caused him to reconsider his career and pursue photography.
Based at Currumbin on the Gold Coast, Ted creates images that combine water and light, and his life of living the dream has taken him to all the best locations around the world. Travel is his teacher and photography is his reason.
Ted’s work delivers decisive moments and truth, blending art and photo-journalism. His images have been published in the world’s finest magazines, and has transcended traditional surf photography to become pure art. Ted’s journey of discovery has taken him to the furthest corners of the world and his photography documents the life and the ocean he sees around him.
His books include a dedicated volume of the Surfers Journal ’ Masters of Surf Photography’ series, and he also photographed the spectacular imagery for the kids’ book “The Surfer and the Mermaid” that inspires children (and the child in all of us) to respect the ocean.
The Surfer and the Mermaid will be recreated as a children’s theatre production for Bleach*, and Ted’s work will also be displayed as part of the art installation component of the festival.
