El Fogon is a bright, bustling, open-air taqueria on 30th avenue near 26th and 28th street in Playa del Carmen. This place was recommended to us by our taxi driver who picked us up from the airport.
Fogon is a decent walk from the center of Playa (5th ave.) but well worth the trek. I was pleased to discover that Fogon is in the same area as several places recommended by chef Rick Bayless on his website regarding Playa del Carmen. We'll visit those too.
This video shows the lively "al pastor" station, the non-stop grill (til 5 am everyday) and a Fogon special which consists of three types of pork. There are frijoles charros and of course, micheladas.
