5. Council to recognize the Salisbury High School Boys Soccer team for winning the North Carolina 2A State Championship.

6. Mayor to proclaim the following:

7. Council to consider the CONSENT AGENDA:
(a) Approve Minutes of the Regular Meetings of December 20, 2011 and January 3, 2012.

8. Council to receive Highlights and Goals presentations from the Hurley Park Advisory Board, Salisbury Tourism and Cultural Development Commission, Transportation Advisory Board and Tree Board.

9. Council to hold a public hearing regarding Salisbury Transit System’s proposed Community Transportation Program Grant Application:
(a) Receive a presentation from staff
(b) Hold a public hearing
(c) Consider adopting a RESOLUTION seeking permission to apply for Community Transportation program funding and to enter into an agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to provide necessary certification and the required local match

10. Council to consider the following actions regarding the Second Creek Wastewater
Treatment Plant Elimination (WWTP) Project:
(a) Receive a presentation from staff
(b) Adopt a RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract with Clean
Water Management Trust Fund for the Second Creek WWTP Elimination Project to
receive grant funding in the amount of $600,000
(c) Amend Capital Project Budget Ordinance 032-802 Second Creek WWTP
Elimination Project
(d) Award a contract to McKim & Creed, Inc. in the amount of $111,600 for
professional engineering services related to the Second Creek WWTP Elimination
Project.

11. Council to consider adopting an ORDINANCE directing the housing inspector to arrange
demolition of the structure located at 222 South West Street.

12. Council to consider adopting an ORDINANCE directing the housing inspector to arrange
demolition of the structure located at 501 North Long Street.

13. Council to consider adopting an ORDINANCE directing the housing inspector to arrange
demolition of the structure located at 320 South Shaver Street.

14. Council to consider renaming the 700 Block of Old Plank Road.

15. Council to receive public comment.

16. Interim City Manager’s comments.
(a) Norfolk Southern Rail Crossing Closure.
(b) Other comments.

17. Mayor’s Announcements.
(a) The Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department will host the 16th Annual Father and
Daughter Dance Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the
Civic Center, 315 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. Tickets are available at the Civic
Center or by calling (704) 638-5275.
(b) Salisbury City Council will hold its 27th Annual Future Directions and Goal
Setting Retreat February 9-10, 2012.
(c) The City of Salisbury is seeking applicants for the newly created Housing Advocacy
Commission. Applications are available online at salisburync.gov under the
Boards and Commissions tab. Applications are also available at the City Clerk’s
Office located at 217 South Main Street, or by calling 704-638-5224.
(d) Registration is now open for the Jr. Bobcat Girls and Coed Basketball program.
