Now-a-days the Internet is not an indispensable part of our society. It is ubiquitous, informative, addictive and transportable. Namely, people have new friends – the smartphones. Due to the smartphones, you can be online anytime and anywhere in the world. They accompany us to every place we go and are always there when we need them, just like best friends do. They come in different designs, one might say in different characters. You can find always one new best friend, whom you can trust your life with.
Our story is about a sixteen year old girl named Sandy Morgan, which found a new best friend in her smartphone. Sandy is a typical teenager as we know them today: by owning a smartphone she feels like an it-girl. She defines herself with it and feels popular. But for Sandy her smartphone is much more than just a status symbol. It became her new best friend, because it is always there for her. She is overjoyed that she and her smartphone, which she has named Tom, have build and developed such an intimate bond of trust. For Sandy this bond feels indestructible. All her real friends can´t offer Sandy, what Tom can offer her. He is an all-round talent. He knows her needs, what she likes, her dislikes, her appointments and a lot more. You could say he knows her inside out. This makes him the perfect companion for Sandy. He makes her life, in which she would be totally helpless without him, much easier. Sandy often wonders, how she could even live without Tom. Since he has entered her life, everything turned out much easier. Tom leads Sandy trough the world and takes over all her tasks and challenges for her. His care, the accuracy with which he reminds her of appointments and events, the responsibility he takes for what happens in her life and the conscientiousness with which he organizes and plans everything for her, inspires her a lot. Sandy trusts Tom blind, and would follow him anywhere he goes, because he is her smartphone, her protector and her best friend in the whole wide world.
