Join us for a day of 30+ inspiring conference sessions (workshops, roundtables, activity showcases/demos, and a poster reception led by Mason instructors and our keynote speaker) that showcase strategies and tips to support student learning in and out of the classroom.
Faculty from all ranks/disciplines, graduate students, and members of support offices are welcome.
THEME: Learning doesn’t happen in the isolation of the classroom. Students and instructors come to the teaching-learning experience with a variety of prior life experiences and competing life demands. For this year’s theme, we invite members of the Mason community to reflect on how instructors can adjust various aspects of their teaching practice to support the “whole” student through their Mason learning experience. These aspects could be inclusive teaching practices, activities that connect life experiences with curriculum or curriculum with career paths, strategies for making traditionally “hidden curriculum” visible, welcoming student voices and feedback, building classroom communities, facilitating effective collaborative group work and team projects, etc.
KEYNOTE: Lisa Nunn, Ph.D., author of 33 Simple Strategies for Faculty, will invite us to reflect on how we as instructors can help develop a sense of belonging for our students, enabling them to connect with their learning and thrive not only academically, but also holistically. She will also provide practical strategies you can use in your teaching today and through the semester.
