This short video highlights a dying tradition in Barbados and the Caribbean. It examines an Easter Tradition known as the sticking of the Physic Nut Tree. Every Good Friday around noon when the Physic Nut Tree is stuck it bleeds a red substance which is symbolic of the blood of Jesus Christ.
Other traditions include placing the white of a freshly laid chicken egg into a glass of water early on Good Friday Morning and by noon, the white of the Egg takes the form of a ship, a coffin or a church, which symbolizes that someone would travel, die or get married respectively.
These are all cultural traditions that I use to participate in as a young boy growing up, but which have now almost been completely lost in my country amongst younger generations. I hope to preserve this to younger generations by doing little projects like this.
