‘Face Music’ – commissioned by Nuit Blanche and the city of Toronto for Nuit Blanche 2011 – is a work that creates an auto generative sound environment that uses input from human faces to set the auto generative sound environment in motion. In this installation 9 foot jointed robots are able seek out human body heat. As they move toward human body heat, cameras mounted at the tip of each robot stop and take a photo of that participant. These photos are processed in a program called MAX MSP and Jitter and sent via a network to allow the software to parse and pixelate their photos as well as project those images to the projections screens surrounding the installation.
