An installation featured in Youtopia, an exhibition of architectural proposals for music and theatre spaces at Tin Sheds Gallery, the University of Sydney, and part of Sydney Festival 2012. The work immerses visitors in the glow of waves which sweep through the installation volume to mimic marine bioluminescence — dinoflagellates, crustaceans and bacteria which glow blue when mechanically disturbed, such as by a wave or a swimmer.
The final shot shows Phosphorescence of the Sea as viewed through another installation: Eroded, by Iain Blampied and Oliver Hessian.
The installation consists of smart LEDs (BlinkMs: thingm.com/products/blinkm) controlled by a Processing sketch via Arduino boards.
