The Last Man Breathing
written and directed by Nabil Shaban
This extended version of "The Last Man Breathing" was originally made in response to "The Kid In The Front Row Disaster Filmmaking Competition". However, the defining rule of the competition was that the film should be no more than two minutes, and should be one continuous take with no edits. I wrote the script but found when I shot it, that the film was over four minutes long. As a consequence, I entered the first half of the film, since it worked well enough as as straight speech to camera in its own right.
This four and half minute version is the complete version including the second character "Mary".
The Two minute competition's story brief was;
"The world is about to end. A poisonous gas has descended over the planet, and everyone is about to die. With this knowledge and realisation, you pick up your video-phone, and capture the final two minutes of your life, and in fact, the last moments of humankind on the planet."
