Last month the Danjiri Festival was in town. A Danjiri is a big, rolling structure; kind of like a parade float, except it is pushed by a bunch of men and women on wooden wheels. And it weighs a few tons. Apparently the god, or gods, or local shrines are in them, and once a year they get taken out on the town in hopes that it will bring a good harvest. They manage some tight streets, and some tighter corners, as they push it around town. Some cities have dozens of them, but ours has 3, I think. This one passed right by the end of our block, so we met up with it and followed it through the neighborhood until it met with another and they did a little dance together.
Our videos are still pretty Eamon-centric. Apologies for how it pans to his confused face every 10 seconds or so.
