For this installation a 16 mm film of various nuclear and geographically significant sites across the Southwestern United States and Northern Ontario is projected onto a large screen made of clay and roots.
Pinheiro spent the past year travelling to and recording stunning vistas, such as the Petrified Forest in the Painted Desert of Northern Arizona and the Nevada Test site, the US government’s nuclear testing ground opened in 1950. Her filmic composition moves across the dried clay and roots that she collected from the Goulais River near her home. Ultimately, this installation acts as a meditative passage through multiple landscapes of time.
