Swim for West Papua was the spark that lit the match paper in over 1 million people's minds. It is the story of how 1.8 million indigenous West Papuans risked arrest, torture and even prison to display their desire to be independent from Indonesia.
The campaign raised awareness of the need for an internationally supervised vote for West Papua to safeguard the world's third biggest rainforest, unique cultures, and uphold one of the most basic of human rights - the right to self-determination.
On the 29th of August 2017 a team of six swimmers set out on a 69km up Lake Geneva. But it was much more than a swim from A - B, this was the culmination of an 8 month camapign and the latest step in the fight for West Papuan independence!
