On Wednesday 3 April 2019, we hosted a rare opportunity to listen to vinyls from the Hidden Years Music Archive, one of the most extensive archives of popular music in South Africa. The archive boasts a collection of more than 6000 records collected by Ben Segal and David Marks between 1959 and 2000. The collection is now housed at the Africa Open Institute, Stellenbosch University. For this first event in our series "Hidden Archives Vinyl Listening Sessions" the Interdisciplinary Forum for Popular Music (ifPOP) and Hidden Years invited Atiyyah Khan and Robert Machiri, two esteemed selectors and DJ's, to make a selection from the archive for their sets. Interview conducted by Dr Stephanie Vos, film by Rob Ruhrmund.
