Site specific wall mural by London based artist David Shilllinglaw. Made for the 'Nostalgia' group show at Rook and Raven gallery. London. January 2012.
Made over a few days in the gallery the work is based around the idea of 'the seven stages of man' sometimes referred to as the seven ages of man: infant, schoolboy, lover, soldier, justice, pantaloon, and second childhood.
Drawing on a variety of influences, from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, modern science, anatomy and Shakespeare's As You Like It:
"Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything."
