Four Tet promo featuring U.K Graffiti artist Part2ism AKA Keith Hopewell's pays tribute to close friend rapper Rammellzee (or RAMMΣLLZΣΣ, pronounced "Ram: Ell: Zee"; late 1960 – June 27, 2010).
Rammellzee was a hip hop artist, former member of Death Comet Crew, graffiti writer & performance artist from New York.
His fans include the Beastie Boys,Cypress Hill and Guns & Roses Guitarist Bucket Head to name a few .His song Beat Bop is acknowledged by many as the first Rap song and single handedly starting the genre, he was featured in the film Style Wars and also in Jim Jarmusch's 1984 film Stranger Than Paradise.
He embodied the notion that there is a thin line between tin-foil hat and genius, his conception of the universe often appeared as a byzantine tangle of conspiracy theories, arcane prophecies and mathematics. He viewed the graffiti writers as heirs to Medieval monks, destined to liberate the alphabet from standardization. He was obsessed with the notion of sonic sound wars and the historical struggles between the "letter" and the "number." he was a true artist.
He died under mysterious circumstances shortly before this was music video shot. I Love you brother R.I.P
I tried to follow the Hip Hop aesthetics on this and shot it myself keeping it rough and ready.
Shot on a sunny day in Notting Hill july 2010,dodging patrolling police.
