Transcript: Residue explores the hostile nature of web-space communities. Specifically online dating services. A cube with a hollowed base is suspended from the ceiling so that a viewer can insert their head inside. The interior of the cube contains eyes staring back at the viewer. As a result of user interaction the cube begins to impose personal questions which come from various users sites like Match.com, OkCupid, and UDate; Each question holds the potential to make or break a relationship. The amount of time one user devotes inside the cube effects the next occupant – this time is a residue that remains with and affects the cube and directs it towards a calm or hostile tone of voice. This acts as an indirect form of dialogue that echos web-space communities.
