Documentation of the development, and live performance of, "Score for the Big Bang." Astronomer Mark Whittle determined the sound of the Big Bang in 2004 using data from the WMAP satellite. I commissioned a composer to translate this sound into musical notation. The piece is eight minutes long, approximately one minute for every one-hundred-thousand years of the early universe.
A final version of this work will be performed in April 2012 by thirty-nine vocalists in a cathedral in Richmond, Virginia.
