In the late winter and spring of 1970 the student ghetto of Isla Vista, California located next to UC Santa Barbara experienced 3 separate student lead riots. Student outrage over the firing of a popular professor and student oppression and acts of brutality by the police lead not only to campus wide protests but also protesters burning down the Bank of America, the shooting of Kevin Moran by the police, and then Governor Ronald Regan calling the students. "Cowardly little bums." And remarking, "if you want blood, I will give you blood."
