This is the romantic story of the difficult creation of the Chapelle du Rosaire, Henri Matisse’s last great project. The building of the Chapel, a small jewel in the southern French town of Vence, was beset with a multitude of problems. Through the words of Sister Jacques-Marie, the nun whom Matisse called the “true initiator” of the chapel, this story of art and architecture is transformed into an intimate look at the artist at work, and a poignant reflection on love and friendship. Directed by Barbara Freed. All post-production by Doug Rossini.
