In October 1997, my sixth grade students from Griffin Creek Elementary School battled Mrs. Barrs' sixth grade students in a re-enactment of the Battle of Gettysburg. The project took about 7 weeks from start to finish, and was shot using a Canon A1 Digital Hi8 camera. The students researched the events of the battle and put them to a storyboard. Parents helped out with costumes, weapons, food preparation, and so much more. The Medford Fire department provided a smoke machine, and we had reporters there from the Medford Mail Tribune and two local television stations. If you listen closely to the second news story, you can hear me shout to their cameraman.
