“…She flies in a high speed and she moves like a true spider, scary, she walks on the wall and changes position quickly like an arrow. There is a mysterious and frightening music that accompanies her, even the sound seems to be blue…” (audio extract)
This work consists of an audio installation and a video without sound, which are located far from each other. In a little room illuminated with a little blue light you sit on a chair and listen to the audio with the headphones. The video image can be watched on a little screen that is fixed on a wall.
SPIDER is the first spontaneous answer on why I wanted to make art, but in an interdisciplinary way. It deals about the first moment that I remember in my past, which may be important for this development.
This memory is “divided” in a vision from the inside and the outside: the audio narration reveals the impressions that I had as a little girl entering for the first time a theatre. The video, however, shows the acrobatic performance, which had a strong effect on me.
The video shootings were taken from the Czechoslovak television that has broadcasted the spectacle “Spider” in 1987. I did a little digital restoration that has improved the quality of the image and the colours of the tape. Moreover, I did little changes in editing and time for coming nearer to the dreamy atmosphere at that time.
