The Eddie is arguably the largest and most prestigious big wave riding event in the world. In 2011, Quiksilver approached the De Republica team to rebrand the event. The goal was to develop and produce a media strategy that would appeal to a wider audience. De Republica identified the biggest issue for Quiksilver was, that they were dealing with an audience who was unfamiliar with the world of big wave surfing and how The Eddie operates in comparison to other surfing events. The solution was to create a series of short videos that not only educate the general public, but, put them in the shoes of the competitor. These videos will formulate the basis for a talk panel show that De Republica has created which will be aired live on the morning of the event.
De Republica has also produced a number of short form content pieces that profile each competitor which will be used to pad out the live webcast.
