According to the American Psychological Association a survey in late 2008 found that 80 percent of the people who responded said that the recent financial crisis was causing them a significant amount of stress. That is an increase from the earlier survey done in 2007 which they found only 66 percent were stressed. The anxiety over money has produced a new ailment that is affecting a large part of the population, particularly women. Psychology professionals have a name for this affliction: Money Anxiety Disorder. Women are more likely to be stressed about money issues because they are worried about their familyʻs daily needs and well-being. They may not be comfortable with managing the money; their spouse might be the one doing it or they may be a single parent. They may not be the major breadwinners; or they are the care-givers.
