This sound and image projection work was created for Making The Postcard Women's Imaginarium project. In these readings which accompany the projection, I have collected a selection from a wide variety of texts from different time periods, by men and by women. I wanted people to listen to the texts without knowing who has written which fragment, to disrupt assumptions about the gender and position the authors speak from.
I leave it to listeners to decide which texts venerate women and which degrade. I have juxtaposed the sacred and the profane, the Orientalist and the Feminist, the Eastern and the Western. Other texts are there as a form of protection for the Postcard Women.
