The church begins a new stage of its story after Pentecost. From Acts 3-7, we see the early church in a season of growth and rapid change. Interestingly, they don't begin by creating a 10 step plan for a church development. There's no long term visioning task force appointed, and they don't spend time thinking about branding, marketing, or audience research. Instead, they simply take each day and respond to the opportunities and challenges that God gives them, committed simply to doing the next right thing, and the next, and the next.
This Sunday, we launch a new series in our Unfinished theme called "The Next Right Thing." We begin this week with Acts chapter 3, where the name of Jesus brings healing to a lame man, and revival to Jerusalem. As we go about our lives, the next right thing for us (like for Peter and John) is often to "Lean on the Name."
