I originally designed this fly for a trip to North Andros, in the Bahamas. The guide, Phillip Rolle, took one look at the fly and said "that is one, big, ugly fly!" But by the end of the trip he was using it too. The fly is designed to imitate mantis shrimp (which make the round, nickel- and quarter-size holes on the flats) and ghost shrimp (which make the ski mogul-type sand mounds). The fly uses only a few materials, is a quick tie, and is very effective.
