Made of Money and Moneytalk Islington are award-winning financial literacy projects supporting low income families in east London, run by charity Quaker Social Action.
In 2011 we ran some workshops with year 5 students and their families at Highbury Quadrant Primary School in Islington, in conjunction with Little Angel Theatre. We used puppetry as a tool to get kids thinking about money with their parents. A group of families then went on to complete Made of Money workshops covering issues such as advertising and branding, the difference between needs and wants, household bills and savings.
Made of Money is also available as a train-the-trainer course for anyone working with people on a low income across the UK. Visit quakersocialaction.com/madeofmoney for more details.
