Live performance with video installation (excerpt).
Performed by Ensemble neoN at Dramatikkenshus, Oslo, December 2011.
'My Red, Red Blood' was commissioned by Oslo's Ensemble neoN with support from NyMusikk Norway. The video image doubles as notation, shaping and directing the actions of live players, in this performance: piano, cello, violin, percussion, bass clarinet, flute, prepared guitar and electronics. Text in the work is excerpted from 'USO,' a text by poet Kim Rosenfield, featuring language appropriated from a first-person internet memoir of the USO comedian (theUSO is an organization which sends American comedians abroad to entertain US military personnel deployed overseas).
This documentation shows the video score in tandem with a live sound recording of the first performance. (Note: when the image in the video appears black, the projection screen, which should be very thin silk, becomes transparent under stage lighting.) See marinarosenfeld.com for staging/installation views.
