The Tie the Ribbon’s luncheon is held by the HudsonAlpha Foundation each year to help support breast and ovarian cancer research. In 2019, the proceeds benefit research being done by the Breast and Ovarian Cancer Research Team and the Information is Power initiative, both part of the Scientific Advancement Fund.
The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is committed to the goal of using genomic science and state-of-the-art technology to find new breakthroughs in breast and ovarian cancers. Through collaborations with scientists around the globe, this team is working to find biomarkers that lead to earlier, more accurate diagnoses and new pathways for more effective and targeted treatments. Breast and ovarian cancers are complicated diseases but through the power of genomic science and medicine, HudsonAlpha is working to find answers that make a difference. Each day we strive to find new breakthroughs that will bring health, healing and hope to our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and even men in the family that can get breast cancer. In addition, HudsonAlpha collaborates with Kailos Genetics to offer the Information is Power program, which is a community initiative offering genetic cancer risk testing for residents in North Alabama. Information is Power is an important personal health tool that gives people the power to make decisions about their health.
