Romancing the Gibbet is an experiment in dark tourism devised by poet, Ralph Hoyte and historian, Steve Poole. Using historical evidence, spoken word and an imaginative soundscape, we'll take you on an immersive 'murder walk' around four sites of extraordinary public execution in Georgian Britain. Each event blends history, poetry and mobile digital technology. To book a free ticket, find us in the online programme at 'being human 2019', search 'gibbet' and follow the links. Note: to experience the 'sample dark tourism trail' which is available to try after the Being Human events you will need to download an app to your phone at home (or where there is a fast wi-fi connection) and bring your phone along to the event. Don't forget your headphones!
