(Queens, New York, October 13, 2010) Bircan Unver, the producer and director of The Light Millennium organization and the LMTV Programs, received the prestigious “Award of Merit” in the category of “Arts/Cultural/Performance/Plays” from The Accolade for her documentary, “Francis Bacon: Humans Are Violent.”
The documentary was produced in May 2009, based on the "Francis Bacon: A Centenary Retrospective" that took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in NYC. The documentary focuses on Francis Bacon’s philosophy as presented in the exhibition, aiming to expand the exhitibion’s reach-out to general public through “public access television.” By doing so, the documentary also provides a medium of informal education in arts for all walks of life.
The documentary “Francis Bacon: Humans Are Violent” is guided by Gary Tinterow, curator of the exhibition, and features an exceptionally captured overview and the essence of the Centenary Retrospective at the MET on May 18, 2009.
The Light Millennium/LMTV was launched at Queens Public TV on January 13, 2000 by Bircan Unver as a series of independent programs including themes of literature, poetry, art & artists, culture, peace, United Nations, freedom of expression, and global issues. LMTV programs are produced under/for The Light Millennium organization, which holds a tax exempt status #501-c-3 effective on July 17, 2001, and is associated with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations.
