Cawthron is proud to be running the 2019 New Zealand River Awards. As part of the celebration, Reo mo te Awa Award, or River Voice Award recognises a person who advocates for rivers and freshwater from a position of credibility, influence and relevance.
The Award also recognises the recipient’s communication skills and their commitment to searching for and publicising the threats to our waterways as well as offering possible solutions.
This year, the recipient of the 2019 Reo mo te Awa Award is Dr Alison Dewes, who has used her expertise and energy to argue for changes to the way we farm to help protect our waterways. She’s an excellent advocate for more sustainable agriculture and an intelligent critic of farming practices and water plans that threaten the health of our waterways.
