Here’s our Symphony Orchestra in full effect conducted by Scottish Opera’s Musical Director, Francesco Corti, playing ‘Pines of Rome’ by Ottorino Respighi.
Writing in the Herald, Michael Tumelty was “Gobsmacked” by “a juggernaut performance, with Corti in controlled overdrive and these amazing young musicians playing with apparent nonchalance, but as though it mattered; which, of course, it did.”
We were delighted to have Francesco Corti conduct our student symphony orchestra for the first time, and we think he enjoyed the experience too, describing our students playing with plenty of passion and fire!
Respighi’s ‘Pines of Rome is performed here in full at City Halls, home of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. The piece was a fitting end to an evening which was, “entirely about colouring, pictorialism, nuancing and subtlety of expression”
