In January 2012, Opera Circus, a British chamber opera touring company, went on a research trip to India to discover more about the themes of their work-in-progress, Naciketa which is based on ancient India texts, the Upanishads. They also wished to research classical musical forms. For the production they sought collaborations with artists, theatres and through their education programme with children and young people.
Nigel Osborne, composer and an expert in using music with communities, and Darren Abrahams, singer and animateur, visited several schools and institutions caring for children. In this extraordinary school, where we were guided by two seven year olds and discussed education theory with a 16 and 18 year old, Nigel and Darren engaged a class in a history of the Blues from Africa to the States.
This brief film was shot in a few hours while at the school.
