Between 2010-2011 rukus! Federation the Black lesbian and Gay Arts Company I co-founded with Ajamu embarked on a project called Sharing Tongues. We interviewed on camera and through audio recordings over 20 Black lesbians and Gay men over 35.
The stories we uncovered were rich and varied. They help to dispel myths about being Black and being Gay. Offering new insight into how people have lived their lives in the UK in the later part of the 20th century and early part of the 21st century.
Ajamu asked the questions and I shot and lit them simply as you see here. The idea was to let the interviewees speak as themselves. What you see on my Vimeo page is a small selection.
