The holy scriptures teach that there is a great battle being waged for the souls of mankind. The forces of good and the forces of evil surround us. Often, the physical battles related in the scriptures are symbolic of the spiritual battles we each must fight in order to stay on the straight and narrow path, following our Savior, Jesus Christ.
In this video you will see images depicting a battle detailed in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The courageous Captain Moroni needed to rally his people to defend their country. He tore his cloak , and wrote a list of the reasons they must fight (family, wife, children, freedom, country, God). He hoisted the cloak upon a pole, creating the "Title of Liberty" which was carried throughout the land rallying the people to victory.
Ten years later, another military leader named Helaman recruited some courageous young men. He called them the "Stripling Warriors" . They marched to defend the freedom of their country and families. Despite all odds, these inexperienced youth were victorious in battle because their faith never wavered. They believed that Christ could deliver them and strengthen them no matter how difficult the task.
Today, there are faithful Latter-day Saints of all ages who go out into the world to share the gospel message. They may be inexperienced, and face daunting challenges, however just like the "stripling warriers" they trust that Christ will deliver them and strengthen them no matter how difficult their task. They dedicate their time and means to share the glorious gospel message. In a troubled world, these missionaries reinforce hope and peace as they give Christian love and service.
It is Jesus Christ who can strengthen our souls as we face life's battles. His power magnifies all efforts to serve our fellow men and to make the world a better place.
The text to this song is taken from passages by the Apostle Timothy:
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord...[shall give] unto all them that love his appearing." - 2 Timothy 4: 7-8
And from the Apostle Paul we may learn exactly HOW to prepare ourselves for the battle:
"Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Ephesians 6:10-20
