Jose was detained for 332 days in four different detention centers for migrant children: Southwest Keys, BCFS, heartland Alliance and Morrison Program. While detained, he refused to cooperate with these programs and was moved to "high-security" detention for migrant children and from there to county jail. He is currently facing deportation and using his case as a political tool to speak out against the child detention program.
