This film is a culmination of a 5-year long creative collaboration between visual artist, Charlotte Hodes & poet, Deryn Rees- Jones. ‘Fires’ was made for their exhibition 'The Errant Muse', Victoria Gallery & Museum, Liverpool (October 2019- March 2020) It is a lyric essay which was prompted by an exchange with the feminist philosopher Rosi Braidotti about the nature of poetry, in which a figure walks through a city reflecting on what it means to write. The successive ‘fires’ of creativity & the relationship between self & world are playfully seen through a history of engagement with lyric poetry & imagery.
