This video illustrates the two different responses to water levels.

First, there is a sensor in the water reservoir that monitors water levels. When the water level drops below what is required to water the plants the blue LED turns off and a small speaker is turned on.

Second, there is a sensor located among the roots of a plant. When the water level drops below ideal levels the green LED turns off and the solenoid valve opens watering the plants.

Ideal levels were calculated using the Arduino to collect data in a variety of conditions. With the plugins Grasshopper and Firefly for Rhino all incoming data is collected, organized, databased, and used to calibrate the sensors.
