In the summer of 2011, about 50 students from the KU Symphony and vocal music department lived with host families in Eutin, Germany, for six weeks and performed at the Neue Eutiner Festspiele (New Eutin Festival). The students participated in 14 sold-out performances, including the operas Hansel und Gretel and Don Giovanni.
With this success — an experience abroad that KU students will never forget — organizers David Neely and Dean Robert Walzel hope to make this a yearly tradition in the School of Music. The response from students has been enough incentive to do whatever it takes to provide this opportunity.
