The Rumpus Room worked with Mother London to create Amplichoir, a pan-European initiative that aspired to become the biggest user-generated online choir in the world.
Devised to promote Dell’s sponsorship of the MTV Europe Music Awards 2009, Amplichoir combined people’s love of creating personal content with a specially designed online crowd-sourcing mechanic.People filmed themselves via webcam performing a short karaoke piece. These recordings were then moderated and scored based on each visual and vocal performance.
The system created the giant choir from these moderated submissions using the performance scores to compose the film.Amplichoir was built to be distributed across any digital / social media space and easily modified in terms of resolution and format, allowing us to create content that was suitable for high resolution broadcast, digital outdoor and the internet
.Each entry was rewarded with a personalised film starring the performer in the centre of their own choir, as well as the tools to share this content through their social media spaces.
