a solo i made as an introduction to a longer piece ("uptown dance") for the faculty concert at umd, 1986.
i liked this solo and the other two sections very much.
it was my first attempt at making a dance that was done in sections and was the longest piece i had ever tried: 15 minutes or so.
the solo is a nice little 2 and 1/2 minute dance done in the audiences' lap. i came down off the stage to give them a personal and somewhat limited view of the movement. i have always liked being close to the audience.
this is the piece that made me begin to think of myself as a choreographer.
